VISION and MISSION
Center of Media Study and Development (P3M)
P3M is founded on August 2007 by professional media workers in Jakarta. Even as new media organization in Indonesia, the personnel of Board of Director and Board of Supervisor are people who have many experiences at the area of media studies and media development, not only at Indonesia but also at another country.
The aim of P3M is working to increase access to information for Indonesian to foster independent media and promotes open communication policy related to public interest.
VISION
Building the access of news and information to the society, empowering people to participate effectively in their community, increasing their living standards, and make their voice to be heard, so that in the end can bring the society to the positive impact of social change and better future.
MISSION
- Promoting the needs of news and information from and to the society by building the capacities of media practitioners are in commercial institution, public and also community, for example newspaper, local television and radio (in the district/ town).
- Improving the understanding of society that media sector require to be comprehended as an industry -representing complex unity from the strength of economic, social and politic through to recognizing the market strength.
- Facilitating the access or provisions and the efforts to increase the quality of human resources through training, workshop, seminar, comparison study, etc start from journalism, production and to media management.
- Strengthening independent media sector, P3M works with professional media to produce original program and qualified (well print media, online, television and also radio) that its production will be printed/broadcasted by regular at media partners free of charge.
- Providing a wide range infrastructure support to enable independent media in providing news and essential information, including providing journalist and media institution (especially radio station) with production equipment, developing production studio, and builds radio stations and also will provide internet communication access free of charge to journalist.
- Supporting independent media in running their function as “watch dog” is through working together with media partners in adoption and implementation the fair law and policy to media.
- As part of work to develop independent media and access to information, P3M (in collaboration with Internews Network and Internews Europe) will develop special global program in health journalism, environmental journalism, humanitarianism media, technology of communications and information, and governance and transparency manner.
- Stimulating and conducting research into related to the studies and media development at various life aspects.
- Producing and/or publishing books about media and its growth, both in Indonesia and also in other countries that can give positive contribution to media development in Indonesia.
- Participating at various social activities in media context, are like media coalition for fair elections, and others.
- Committing to always can work along with local organizations, are like journalist association, professional training institution, university and group of defenders of media rights, in actualization media for society empowerment.
- P3M becomes government partner/state institutions in drafting regulations at media sector, broadcasting or other area which is related to studies and media development in the form of input, assistance, and/or critical analysis.
- Interlacing communication intensively with media industrial association and journalist association at various countries are concerning media development.
- Playing an active role in international forums is related to the development of media industry.
